Meet the Maker

I’m Mariann — founder of Tucannon Leather Company, volunteer firefighter / AEMT, mom of four, grandma to three, and wife to a man who’s had my back through all of it.
My journey into leatherwork started long before Tucannon Leather had a name. I made my first belt in middle school shop class — my dad wore it for decades. Later, he helped me braid a headstall for a horse. It wasn’t much to look at, but I loved the process. Decades later, my husband and I took a few classes at a local Tandy store, and something clicked. I was hooked.
Since then, I’ve crafted everything from blacksmith aprons and helmet shields to teddy bears and tooled sunflower portfolios. I love that leatherwork is never the same twice — each project is a blend of creativity, utility, and detail. The more I create, the more I see the beauty in gear that grows with you — gear that holds memory and meaning.
Tucannon Leather is more than a craft — it’s a way to carry stories forward. Every piece starts blank, but over time it soaks up the experiences of the one who carries it. I want the gear I make to feel familiar — like something you’ve always had. Or to stir up excitement — a sense that this piece will become part of the story you’re building.
Thanks for being here. I hope you find something that speaks to you — and that it becomes a trusted companion in the seasons ahead.
